Anti Acne DIY Grapefruit Sugar Scrub

anti acne grapefruit sugar scrub

To be quite frank with you I was never a big fan of grapefruit. The word itself used to give me chills.

The only reason I can think of that explains why I despised grapefruit so much relates back to when I first arrived to United States from Brazil and was offered the juice of it. I was told it was delicious and it helped with weigh loss and it was pretty much the best fruit juice ever.

Need I to say that as soon as I put the juice in my mouth I immediately spitted it out? It was terrible, so sour, I honestly couldn't understand how anyone could drink grapefruit juice.

However, grapefruit holds many benefits that I was unaware of until I read this post by Dr. Axe detailing how it is such a great remedy for your skin and immune system.

Well, here is the recipe I use to make my own grapefruit sugar scrub. The great thing about this scrub is that you can use on any part of your body, in fact, you can even eat this recipe.

So go on ahead and scrub from your lips all the way down to the bottom of your feet, not with the same scrubber, I hope.

Anti Acne DIY Grapefruit Sugar Scrub

As I mentioned earlier, this Anti Acne DIY Grapefruit Sugar Scrub can be used on the entire body but grapefruit is a great antibacterial which is why I am using it for this facial scrub but you can use a different oil, such as lavender or geranium, if you are looking for floral scents.

Recipe

Ingredients:

1/4 Cup of Coconut Oil

1 Cup of Brown Sugar

15 drops of Grapefruit Essential Oil ( I used DoTerra but you can use whichever brand you prefer) .

Mix everything very well by hand or using a spoon. Do not use any device to mix the paste as it can break down the sugar and the wonderful components of the essential oil. Once you are done mixing it make sure to store it in a glass jar as plastic can be damaged by the powerful essential oil.

And just like that your all natural, free of chemicals and anti acne grapefruit sugar scrub is ready to use.

Quick Tip: Use the scrub right before shaving as it helps to bring ingrown hairs to the surface and the coconut oil act as a shaving cream.

Let me know what you think of this recipe and what essential oil you would use in the comments below.

I also got my cranberry hibiscus at Echo in Ft. Myers over 13 years ago and I love that they still pop up in my yard. I've been trying to find the exact macros this plant provides to your diet but all I ever come up with is info on either the tea or the flowers. I use the leaves in my salads daily when its growing fresh in my yard. I do prefer the smaller leaves for salad. Any additional info you may have is appreciated!
